Things I learned designing my first iPhone app
I gave a talk at Chromatic about things I learned designing my first iPhone app. There are a lot of design nuances that you learn about when designing for the iPhone, but I wanted to talk about some of the bigger lessons that I learned.
- Stick to the iPhone Human Interface Guidelines unless you have a really good reason not to.
- Design for immediate access; if it’s not a button, most people won’t know about it.
- Confirm actions that have unclear buttons or make actions easy to cancel/undo.
- Content caching and saving the app state are extra work, but they’re work it.
