Transcript of Joshua Kaufman rambling on September 13, 2003. [Jazz music begins] JOSHUA KAUFMAN: Hello this is Joshua Kaufman, and this is my voice. You voted to hear me rambling aimlessly, so I'm going to try to ramble aimlessly for you. I almost forgot about this whole recording my voice thing. But thankfully, I remembered it just a few days before I'm leaving for London. As you may know, I'm going to London - to University College London - to study human computer interaction. And... what more can I say about that besides, "It's gonna rock." London, grad school, human computer interaction, interaction design - all that good stuff. How can you go wrong? I'm just wrapping up some last things in Boswell, PA. That's where I am right now. My parents live in Boswell, Pennsylvania, which is a very small town I guess about an hour and a half east of Pittsburgh. We're surrounded by cornfields and cows. Yeah, so it's pretty much BFE. Um, let's see, what else can I bore you with here? Uh, I've spent a lot of time in the last few days writing my first assignment, which they sent to me a couple weeks ago. So, my first assignment is due the second day of classes. But it's a short paper, so shouldn't be that bad. I've been importing a lot of CDs into my iMac. There was a bunch of CDs that I never had in my computer, so I wanted to do that. And besides that, it's just packing and figuring out how I'm going to get all my clothing in two pieces of luggage. So that should be fun packing. Um, you know what I really wanted to do when I recorded my voice was to read a poem, so I'm gonna do that right now. Let's turn this music down here. [Background music fades out] And switch over to Word here, so I can read this poem that I had queued up. This is Ickle Me, Pickle Me, Tickle Me Too by Shel Silerstein. Ickle Me, Pickle Me, Tickle Me too, Went for a ride in a flying shoe, "Hooray!" "What fun!" "It's time we flew!" Said Ickle Me, Pickle Me, Tickle Me too. Ickle was captain, Pickle was crew, And Tickle served coffee and mulligan stew As higher And higher And higher they flew, Ickle Me, Pickle Me, Tickle Me too. Ickle Me, Pickle Me, Tickle Me too, Over the sun and beyond the blue. "Hold on!" "Stay in!" "I hope we do!" Cried Ickle Me, Pickle Me, Tickle Me too. Ickle Me, Pickle Me, Tickle Me too Never returned to the world they knew, And nobody knows what's happened to Dear Ickle Me, Pickle Me, Tickle Me too.
