Bop It Extreme 2
I wanted to share my joy for the excellent Bop It Extreme 2 that I gave to my step-son for Christmas. The toy is designed for children 8 years and up, but (I’m not embarrassed to admit) Janine and I have been enjoying it more than Eliam.
The idea behind the Bop It is to respond to the instructions that a voice gives you in between an ever changing beat. For example, if you hear, “Bop it!” you need to hit the big button in the middle of the toy. If you hear, “Spin it!” you need to spin the wheel on the corner, and so on. There are five different parts that you have to bop, spin, pull, flick and twist. The longer you keep up, the faster and more difficult the game gets. (Use the “See it in action” link on Amazon to try it out.) However, it’s more than just a game you can play by yourself. It also has one-on-one and pass-it modes, which allow you to easily play head to head or with a large group of people.
The beauty of the toy is the details. Being in its third iteration, the Bop It Extreme 2 is one seriously refined toy. First, the “Spin It!” wheel also doubles as a volume adjustment. Miss the high score? You can easily hear it at any time by twisting the “Twist It!” knob. The best part: it has a headphone jack. So you can actually play it in the car and not drive your parents or friends insane!
Overall, I highly recommend the Bop It Extreme 2 for anyone who loves fast paced, frantic fun. This is definitely one of the best handheld electronic toys on the market today. Buy one for yourself and your best friend.

Sounds like total fun….I’m off to Amazon to buy it now. I was going to buy it for my nephews but it sounds like I might just want to keep it.
Thanks for sharing that. You have a great blog.
Best,
Harald

I must have missed the first incarnation on this. Not sure if my grandkids are a bit too young at 5 and 6 but will check it out. I like the idea of the headphone jack. Thanks.

It is a great game, however the toy doesn’t seem to take scores higher than 250 :-(
And be warned…. it is highly addictive and can be also pretty frustrating…

I bought my 5yr.old son one of these and he loved it and I did too. We need to dig that thing out again. It’s built well and has lasted a long time. I think we had the first generation one though. You could make a small hobby out of some of these toys. They would make good collectables in the future.

I’ve got to score 188 and I’m sure I didn’t go wrong but it just finishes there. Does it get abit temperamental after 150? (Or do I need to practise more?)

I can’t get higher that 200 but its certainly good for improving your reactions ( especially for us older ones !) and its good for keeping the kids entertained on those long car journeys.

It is an addictive game but I agree with Henk, i dont think you can score above 250, mine just stopped when i got there even though i hit the right on, so all those people who said they got nearly 300, i know they’re lying :D

My daughter received Bopit Extreme 2 for her 8th birthday a few weeks ago and has already hit 250. I’ll let you know if it goes higher the next time she does it. P.S. - I’m addicted, too but I can’t get even close to the scores my daughter gets.

I have twice now not been able to get past 250, it just suddenly plays a sort of drum roll (not the same beat as when you error) and then says ‘high score 250’.
its very frustrating that I can’t get past this.

Bop It is the best electronic game ever… I love how it frustrates the heck out of me. Though I can’t see very well, I’ve mocked my niece by achieving the high score of 250… :)

Steve Marston from Barrow in Furness, Cumbria has a high score of 4 and doesn’t believe it goes any higher!!! What do you think??

what can i say i,m totally addicted but my hubby has managed to beat my score which i,m very frustrated about but i need to know if you can get pasted 250 as this is what he got and it just stopped with the high score voice how do you carry on past this point if anybody knows ?

All people: I can assure it doesn’t go any higher than 250. Checked it with people from Hasbro. Petty though, since it wouldn’t have been that hard to make it work up to 999. Well, just try it on Beat-Bop mode, already a bit harder for me. BTW I’m from Holland, where Bop-It isn’t sold… Anybody interested in sending me a box with 20 units in it?
