Expose for Prototyping

Mac OS X Panther’s Expose feature is a useful tool for prototyping. For example, if you have a bunch of interface layouts in windows on your desktop, Expose can help you simulate the interaction more easily by showing all of the current application windows so that you can quickly select the interface you need.

  1. My thoughts of Microsoft and Windows in general definitely improved the day I found out that Windows Key + D kinda does the same thing as expose… hiding all the windows on the screen to show the desktop.

  2. My favorite expose is the ‘Active Screen Corners.” I move my arrow to the lower left corner and the interfaces instantly shrink and spread evenly across the screen, allowing me to choose the one I want. Move my arrow to the lower right corner and all the interfaces zoom off out to the edge of the screen, granting me unfettered access to the desktop. Brilliant.
