New Kuro5hin Text Ads
Simon Willison mentioned Kuro5hin’s new text ads and a Q & A with Rusty Foster about the format. Text ads aren’t anything new, but text ads that allow comments are. I agree with Simon that it’s a great twist to Internet advertising and one that we can expect to see more of.

Oddly, this isn’t new at all. We’ve had ad comments since last March. It seems that for some reason the outside world has just noticed. I always did wonder a little why that didn’t get more attention when we started doing it. I thought it was pretty cool.
(Ok, you caught me ego-surfing Daypop ;-))

Wow, really? I only noticed after the link from Simon. Sorry, I’m not a regular Kuro5hin reader. But, yes, it’s definitely cool. Thanks for the comment, Rusty.

Yeah. That Hypergene story seems to have brought it to the attention of a lot of non-K5ers. If I’d known it was going to be noticed by anyone I’d probably have mentioned that it’s been going on for almost a year.
Also, Fark has ad comments too, and had them before us, actually, though I didn’t know that till after the fact.
