Phone Service Usability

I just dropped my lost distance provider. In order to do so I had to:

  1. Call my long distance provider and talk to a customer service agent
  2. Be transferred to an automatted cancelation service
  3. Manually enter my phone number in the cancelation service even though I had already entered it once and told the customer service agent my number
  4. Notify my local telephone company for the cancelation to take effect
  5. Explain everything to my local telephone company
  6. Be transferred a third party to confirm that I wanted to remove my long distance service

Kind of like doing something in Windows. About five more steps than necessary.
